Verify your Network Analyzer calibration.

Many calibration load's supplied with lower cost VNA's are not good quality. However the VNA is configured to assume the load is perfect.

By measuring this product and comparing the measurement with the supplied data, you can determine if your calibration kit and VNA are accurately measuring return loss.

This load can also be used for calibration as, particularly as frequency increases, it is likely to be significantly better than the low cost load supplied with the VNA. Picture 2 shows the S11 of several of these Loads.

The SMA Load in this kit has been individually measured on a calibrated VNA to 8.5 GHz. The measurement data is on the supplied 32GB USB stick as an Touchstone (s1p) file.

Solutions this product provides: Verification: Perform a calibration as normal, and then measure this Load Compare the results with the s1p data file provided This data is included with your purchase on a 32 GB USB stick

Calibration: Alternatively you can use this Load as your calibration load. Generally it will be significantly better than the loads supplied with NanoVNA above a few hundred MHz.

Finally, as the supplied Load is fully characterised by the data provided. This data can be used to define the Load in your calibration to get even more accurate results. (if supported by your VNA/software. For example NanoVNA-QT has this feature)

Some technical information on how the measurements were made: The measurements are performed on a Siglent SNA5000 series VNA, using an external HP 8515A Test Set for enhanced directivity. Calibrations were done using an Agilent 85033C Cal Kit. Effective directivity after calibration measured using an 85053 3.5mm Air Line and TDR method measured to be better than 45dB to 8.5 GHz and better than 50dB to 3 GHz. Note: TRL calibration is available on request for additional cost. Effective directivity after TRL calibration has been measured to be better than 50 dB to 8.5 GHz.
